Amandeep joined the firm in 2015, then Flabbi & Associates LLP, shortly after graduating and having written his CFE designation exam as a Staff Accountant. Working his way up from a new graduate, he became Partner after the retirement of Joseph Flabbi in 2022.
Amandeep has 10 years experience with Black and Gill LLP having worked on a range of engagements for the majority of the clients of the firm during this time. He enjoys the small office atmosphere and the opportunity to work with diverse clientele ranging from public corporations to not-for-profits and boutique family-owned small businesses and having the opportunity to provide a range of services including personal and corporate tax advice in addition to assurance and other engagements.
Having developed relationships with clients over the years, Amandeep is often the first contact for many clients for any questions or other needs as they arise throughout the year. With experience as a co-op student with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), Amandeep handles the majority or reviews and other CRA correspondence for clients. This includes navigating the process by being the key contact with CRA limiting need for client discussions with CRA while striving to defend clients’ taxpayer rights to ensure results are maximized in our clients’ favour.
Education and Professional Milestones
Amandeep graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours in Bachelors of Business Administration in the winter of 2014. While in school he enjoyed the balance Laurier allowed as a student providing a strong, well-rounded education in all aspects of business rather then just accounting, but also the social and community involvement opportunities and relaxed environment of Laurier. He completed 3 co-op terms at different placements, both firm and non-firm accounting related, in order to experience the various opportunities that could be available to him after graduating in accounting.
After graduating and taking some time travel and then study write his CPA exams, he successfully wrote and passed his CFE in the winter of 2015 as part of the first class of students in the new CPA designation at that time. He has continued his growth with his intellectual curiosity and taking various professional development courses each year to continue to develop his skills and to provide clients with exceptional service to meet any engagement needs.
He obtained his CPA designation with the firm in 2018 and his Public Accounting License in 2022 as he continues to strive to provide clients with exceptional service and support for any needs they may have.
Beyond the Numbers
Outside of work Amandeep enjoys a variety of sports, primarily the NFL and NBA and is a passionate Toronto Raptors fan as well as participating in any pickup game or local volleyball league. An avid traveller, Amandeep enjoys visiting different countries exploring local attractions and restaurants, destinations which are not the typical tourist traps, but rather to learn about different cultures and communities and is always open to any local recommendations while exploring.
Amandeep strives to continue to expand his knowledge and has an intellectual curiosity on various topics and enjoys reading, with a focus on history and politics, and often listens to audiobooks or podcasts on these topics and sports or stand-up comedy. In addition to this, Amandeep is often found after work walking, hiking and spending time with his dog, Machiavelli, who like is namesake is bold and is always looking to explore a new trail and choose his own path.
